Pioneertown, California

Pioneer Town is not a regular ghost town. It was established in 1946 by a group of Hollywood investors to create a backdrop for Western movies. More than 50 films and TV shows were filmed here between the ‘40s & ‘50s. Then Hollywood left, and the city was completely abandoned for a few decades.
In 1980, Pioneer Town’s bar was bought by a couple named Harriet and Pappy, who started putting on shows and turned it into a famous concert venue.
Today, Pioneertown is a pretty lively destination, there are a few boutique stores and even a motel 🤩
(not the one in this photo, but one built in the old cavalry fort).
I stopped there a couple times on my way to Joshua Tree… Have you ever been⁉️
